The
difference between the two types of accounting
is when revenues and expenses are recorded. In
cash basis accounting, revenues are recorded when
cash is actually received, and expenses are recorded
when they are actually paid (no matter when they
were invoiced). The University is currently operating
under cash basis accounting. |

A

student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The

as soon as it is received, but the amounts must
be large in order for the value obtained to exceed
the cost of services. |

Student’s
employer. Sponsor payments are tuition payments

Commonwealth

Program (VGAP), and Graduate student aid. The Commonwealth
of Virginia Grant and VGAP are for undergraduate

Pre-pays |
Funds

individuals the chance to pre-pay college tuition
